Catalyst for purifying exhaust gas emitted from diesel engine

A catalyst for purifying an exhaust gas emitted from a diesel engine includes a support, and palladium loaded on the support. The support includes SiO2 and Al2O3 in a mixing ratio of from 98 : 2 to 72 : 28 by weight. The palladium is loaded on the support in an amount of from 0.01 to 0.55 grams with respect to 1 liter of the support. The catalyst can oxidize SO2, included in the exhaust gas, in a higher temperature range than conventional catalysts can. As a result, the catalyst can furthermore effectively inhibit sulfates, resulting from SO2, from generating.
