Computer network protection device

The protection device allows a stand-by server to be brought into operation upon failure of a primary server for the computer network. A current interruption device (3,4) for the primary server is controlled by the stand-by server. The current interruption device is coupled to at least one server via a serial interface (8,9). Each of the peripherals is switched over from the primary server to the stand-by server upon the stand-by server being brought into operation.
