The load carrier has an extension element (25) for the location of an object to be carried on the support. The extension element has one end engaging with the vehicle and which can be connected to it, and a support end lying opposite the first end and to which is connected an upwards extending support arrangement (45). The latter support has a vertical pillar (43) connected to the extension element, and a vertical support element connected to the extension element for a relative pivoting movement between the vertical post and vertical support element.
