Vehicle control system used with onboard navigation system

The control system uses map card data provided by the onboard navigation system for determining the actual position of the vehicle, with the actual velocity of the vehicle at this point used for calculatig the velocity at point ahead of the vehicle. The steering radius of curvature at this point is compared with the curvature of the road provided by the map data, for activating a warning for the driver, or initiating automatic slowing of the vehicle, when the vehicle velocity is outside defined safety limits.
