FIELD: instrumentation engineering. SUBSTANCE: tool-flaw detector allows determination of pipeline position in space and its variations, as compared with preceding measurement results. Tool-flaw detector makes it possible to detect potentially hazardous flaws of pipeline wall, to reveal sections of hazardous stress and deformation caused by external and internal effects on pipeline and to determine summary stress in any cross-section over entire length of pipeline under test, as well as to estimate pipeline reliability reserve as a whole. Tool-flaw detector is made in the form of four separate sections: magnetic 2, ultrasonic 3, navigational and high-altitude layout marks 4, and power 13 coupled to one another by universal joints 19 which allow tool-flaw detector to pass through pipeline bends. Sections have cups 20 and carriages 21 with spring blocks and wheels. Tool-flaw detector moves in pipeline under effect of pumped over product acting upon cups 20. When tool-flaw detector moves through section, information corresponding to every section is determined and recorded. Power section 13 supplies power to every section and controls it in standard and nonstandard motion modes. EFFECT: extended diagnostic capabilities in checking. 5 dwg
