The cold source has a mechanism for inversion of the sense of circulation of the working fluid between the condenser and the evaporator. This circulation is controlled by a pump (21). A two-way valve (25) allows bypassing of the compressor during the refresh cycle. A four-way valve acts by displacement of a piston (30) under pressure, and a spring (32) returns the piston to its rest position. The exterior heat exchanger (18) is an air or water heat exchanger, which is either buried in the ground or set into the floor. The refresh cycle uses gravity feed of the working fluid.
