PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To make or cancel prohibition in reproducing information recorded on one optical disk for the time or period corresponding to the area in which the optical disks are sold. SOLUTION: This information reproducer comprises: an auxiliary information extracting circuit 108 for extracting information on the permission year and month set in an area from information receded on an optical disk; an area code register 110 in which area codes are set; and a permission year and month register 109 for selecting and storing the permission year and month information corresponding to the area code set from the information of the permission year and month information corresponding to the area extracted, and according to whether or not the present year and month is before the year and month specified by the permission year and month information of the selected area, reproduction of video and audio data included in the optical disk record information is prohibited or the prohibition is canceled.
