<p>PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To eliminate the variation of cell delay by maintaining the sum of the queue length on an input side and the queue length on an output side in the fixed number of packets. SOLUTION: A single incoming data stream is cyclically divided into slow data links of Ms by using a transmitter and emulates a single link of a data rate that is higher than an incoming asynchronous transfer mode(ATM) stream through plural intermediate links. Because M links have different propagation delay, a control cell is sent along each of plural intermediate links M in each traffic of the preliminarily decided number or each idle cell which are sent along plural intermediate links M (the same with a link L1, ...). In such cases, communication links have a queue length means. The queue length means transfers information about the queue length of an input side buffer along the intermediate links and functions to maintain the sum of the length of an input queue and the length of an output queue in the fixed number of cells.</p> |
