A method and an apparatus for needling a nonwoven web 5 with the aid of needles 4 pricking repeatedly into the nonwoven web 5 are described, the nonwoven web 5 delivered continuously to the needles 4 being conveyed further in steps relative to the needles 4 during release by the needles 4 between needle engagements and then being taken up. In order to make it possible to have a tensile load on the nonwoven web 5 which is independent of the roller take-up 9, it is proposed that the nonwoven web 5 be conveyed out of the needle region by the weight of a compensating roller 11 upstream of the take-up. |
