PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To keep a balance between the peripheral differences of wound battery materials, and provide a battery capable of ensuring high service efficiency by applying the constitution that the essential capacity of the outer electrode battery material is made larger than the essential capacity of the inner electrode battery material. SOLUTION: A positive electrode battery material, such as the composite oxide of lithium and transition metal, and a negative electrode battery material such as pyrolytic carbon are applied respectively to the upper and the reverse sides of positive and negative electrode carriers, such as an aluminum foil and a copper foil. Thereafter, the battery materials are spirally wound via a separator, thereby providing an electrode element 11. Then, the electrode element 11 is inserted in a can 12, and a terminal 14 is laid on the open part 12a of the can 12 via a gasket 13. Also, the open part 12a is caulked and integrated with the terminal 14. Furthermore, the can 12 is filled with a nonaqueous electrolyte, composed of an electrolyte such as LiClO4 dissolved in an organic solvent, thereby providing a lithium ion battery. In this case, the essential capacity of the outer electrode battery material is made larger than that of the inner electrode battery material within a range equal to or less than 6%. |
