PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To send a message in a form of sound data, charactor data or graphic data by using the television receiver that receives charactor and sound information from an external host computer and provides an output through the use of a television screen and a speaker. SOLUTION: A CPU 113 receiving a command from a remote controller 120 reads the address of a telephone company stored in an EEPROM 115 and sends an information request signal to a host computer 140 of the telephone company. A MODEM 116 demodulates charactor and sound information from a host computer 140 of the telephone company via a telephone network 130 and gives the demodulated information to the CPU 113. A TV signal processor 112 separates the charactor and sound information received by the CPU 113 into a TV video information signal and a TV sound information signal and output them onto a screen 111 and a speaker 117. A personal subscriber at a remote distance stores its message in the host computer to send charactor and sound information.
