PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a photographic material which has high rigidity and gloss, hardly generates the pressure of yellow and magenta, and is improved in scratch resistance by having a specified thickness of a support body and a paper-making directional taper rigidity, containing a specified compound as magenta coupler in an emulsion layer, and being hardened with a specified hardener. SOLUTION: This photographic material has a thickness of a paper support body of 240μm or more and a paper making directional taper rigidity of 20g.cm or more, contains at least one compound selected from the formulae I and II as magenta coupler in a photosensitive silver halide emulsion layer, and is hardened with at least one of vinyl sulfonic or carboxyl group active hardener. In the formulae I and II, Ra, Rb, Rc, and Rd represent hydrogen atom or a substituent, and either two of Ra, Rb, and Rc may be bonded to form a ring. Z represents hydrogen atom or a group capable of dissociating in the coupling reaction with an oxide body of developing agent.
