The e.g. transparent panel (12), mounted on side rails (13), is opened and closed by a motor-driven pulley and draw-wire system fitted in the frame (11). The motor (14) is located on the frame front member (16). The adjacent control switch (15) with e.g. rotary or sliding action, allowing open, half-open and closed options, is fixed to a central flange in the frame front, in a position readily accessible to the driver. The working parts and connections are protected by a moulded casing and a curved loop integral with the frame moulding, which is sealed to the roof outer and trim panels.
