The protector has two main sections including a first sheet formed of a flexible material of small thickness. There are corner protectors (5) having adhesive sections. The cover can have a sheet which is cut out with tongues (2) in a vertical position and four adhesive tongues (3) in a horizontal position. There can be corner protectors on each corner of the cover. There can be adhesive end surfaces on the horizontal tongues and on the corner protectors to attach the cover to the book. The cover can be formed as a single piece with integral sheet and corner protectors.
