PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide the optical switch in which the switching control constitution is simple, the switching efficiency is superior, the size is reduce and the capacity is increased. SOLUTION: Plural fiber accommodating grooves 4 are formed on a groove forming substrate 1 and fixed side optical fibers 5 are arranged in the grooves 4 and fiber array units 8 are formed. The units 8 are laminated through gaps. A master fiber 10 is arranged corresponding to the unit 8 of each layer. The fiber 10 of each layer is supported and fixed by a common master fiber supporting body 12. The body 12 is movement controlled by a fiber moving control means 13 only in the arranged direction of the grooves 4. When the fiber 10 is moved to the position directly above the groove 4 to which the fiber 5, that is connected to the fiber 10, is stored, the fiber 10 is pressed down to the groove 4 and is held and is connected to the fiber 5 which is the connection destination. |
