An electrical temp. probe is constructed for safe use in areas contg. combustible gases and vapours, using a standard temp. sensitive element. The probe avoids ignition by heat from the element, short circuit, or sparks caused by current switching, partic. where resistance thermometers are used. The temp. sensitive element (1) is arranged in a small cap (2) filled with insulating material (3), into which a specially shaped end (4') of a protective tube (4) is pressed. The other end of the tube is fitted into a second cap, also full of insulating material. The insulating material hardens to form a safeguard against explosion. The second cap contains one or several clamps and one or more connecting leads, which pass through the tube to the element.
