<p>In a process for the electrochemical fluorination of organic cpds. (esp. alkylbenzenes, naphthalene, alkylaniline, benzimidazole or phenothiazine) in acetonitrile as solvent, the electrolysis mixt. contains 0.1-20 (pref. 2-5) wt. % free HF. Fluorine-contg. organic cpds. are used for the prodn. of e.g. polymers, surface-active agents, propellant gases, pharmaceuticals and plant protection agents. With 0.1-20% solns. of HF in acetonitrile, electrofluorination can be successfully carried out without the addn. of a conductive salt. Fluorinated cpds. are obtd. in better yields and more simply then by known known electrofluorination processes. The prods. can often be purified by simple distn. of the reaction mixt.</p> |
