PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To form an appropriate image without stopping the reading operation of the image even if the size of recording paper differs from that of an original by selecting magnification, reduction or partial recording based on the sizes of the original and recording paper. SOLUTION: In the case of color copy, a recording paper size detection sensor detects the size of recording paper and an original detection sensor detects the width of the original. Then, reading width that can be recorded on recording paper is decided based on the detected size and it is set in a work area in a mask area/reduction rate setting register in an image processing gate array 16 and a work area in DRAM 18. Thus, image data of a part which cannot be recorded on recording paper among image data which are read by an area sensor 12 is mask-processed. In the case of monochrome copy, a reduction rate is set in the mask area/reduction rate setting register in the image processing gate array 16 and the work area in DRAM 18 so that it becomes the size adjusted to the size of recording paper based on the sizes of recording paper and the original, which are similarly detected. |
