PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To control a position of a staple or an output direction of image data independently of a direction of a mounted original without needing a time for discrimination processing of an original in a document direction. SOLUTION: An original placed on an original carrying device 101 is carried to a platen glass 102. When a tip of a carried original reaches a position P1, a lamp 103 of a scanner unit 104 is lighted to start reading of image data for discriminating a document direction. When a tail end of the original reaches the position P1, the reading of image data for discrimination of document direction is finished, characters are recognized while referencing a character recognition dictionary on which characteristics of characters in image data for discriminating the document direction and the direction of the document is discriminated based on the direction of the character data which are recognized. |
