PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To reduce the number of part items, reduce the cost, and make a back light device compact by providing a substrate support section on a light guide plate, and fitting the drive circuit substrate of an illuminant to the substrate support section. SOLUTION: This back light device 1 is provided with a fluorescent tube 2 as an illuminant a light guide plate 3 guiding the light of the fluorescent tube 2 from the incident face 3a of a side plane section, reflecting it on one principal plane section 3b side, and allowing the other principal plane 3c side to luminesce, and a drive circuit substrate 4 for lighting the fluorescent tube 2. The light guide plate 3 is provided with a substrate support section 11 supporting the drive circuit substrate 4. A rectangular recess is provided at one side section on one principal plane section 3c side of the light guide plate 3 to form the substrate support section 11. |
