Item rotary tying machine - has looping and knotter mechanism driven by common motor through separately operated clutches

The tying machine has a rotary arm drawing a loop of string etc. round the item with each cycle, also a knotter mechanism initiated at a predetermined point of the arm movement. A common driving motor is provided for the arm and knotting mechanisms and coupled to both via detachable clutches. A control unit engages each clutch while the motor is running only for the duration of the respective cycle, and starts to engage the knotter mechanism clutch while that for the arm mechanism is still engaged. For the latter mechanism there can be a brake on the driven side of the clutch, and operated alternately with the latter.
