PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide the piezoelectric resonator whose static capacitance only is reduced, without changing a frequency distanceΔf between a resonance frequency fr and an anti-resonance frequency fa . SOLUTION: The piezoelectric resonator 10 includes a piezoelectric base 12. A partial electrode 14 which is one of opposite electrodes is formed on a front side of the piezoelectric base 12. The partial electrode 14 is formed symmetrically horizontal with respect to a center axis, extending in the broadwise direction of the piezoelectric base 12. A full side electrode 16 as the other of the opposite electrodes is formed on the entire rear side of the piezoelectric base 12. The piezoelectric resonator 10 is vibrated in the length mode. In this piezoelectric resonator 10, the opposite area between the partial electrode 14 and the full side electrode 16, that is, especially the area of the partial electrode 14 is selected to be a range of 50-75% of the entire area of the piezoelectric base 12.
