<p>PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a color display device capable of preventing the lowering of a color purity by a color filter with a simple constitution without using a complex optical system while maintain high luminance by the using of the color filter consisting of diffraction gratings. SOLUTION: In this color display device constituted of a color filter 1 consisting of a hologram diffractingly dividing a light and generating light beams of color components of three-primary colors in a prescribed spatial cycle, a liquid crystal display device 2 being arranged at the light-emitting side of the color filter 1 and having pixel parts corresponding to the color components o the three-primary colors and a light source optical system (a light source 3 and a condenser lens 4) whose optical axis Y is set at 40 deg. with respect to an axis X vertical to the hologram surface 1a of the color filter 1 and which emits light beams toward the color filter 1, an interference film filter 7 having a higher transmission characteristic with respect to light beams entering at angles within prescribed dispersion angles (roughly±5) around the optical axis Y than other incident light beams is arranged at the light-emitting side of the light source optical system.</p> |
