Hinged table support rod with arresting bearing - slides against edge of spring loaded clamping plate in swivel fitting

The hinged table support is a rod pivoted at one end of the table in a sliding bearing in the body of the furniture. The table can be locked at any required position and a definite force must be overcome on closing and opening. The fitting (7) used for holding the sliding support rod (1) is able to pivot about an axis parallel to the pivoting axis of the table (4). A clamping plate (14) within the fitting has a slot for the rod. This clamping plate whose edge contacts the rod is adjusted by a spring (17) loaded plunger (16). The rod is arrested by plastics springs (22, 23) which push the clamping plate into the locking position.
