Method and apparatus for treating fluid catalytic cracking product gases

A method and apparatus for processing fluid catalytic cracking (FCC) product gases is described. The method deacidifies the wet gas from the FCC fractionation column (10) before it is compressed for further processing thereby reducing the volume and corrosive nature of the gas stream as it is processed. A preferred deacidification process uses a gas-liquid contact surface to interact the gas stream with an ammonia solution (106) to bind and remove the acid gases from the gas stream before the gas stream enters the main compressor (30).
