Transinduction is a system of regulating the expression of a gene locus by transcript-dependent transcriptional activation. The invention provides a method of inducing or enhancing the expression of at least one target chromosomal gene in a target cell, which method comprises: (a) providing a vector containing a transinduction sequence capable of causing transinduction of the target gene, said transinduction sequence operably linked to a promoter element; (b) introducing the vector into the target cell; (c) subjecting the target cell to conditions under which the transinduction sequence is transcribed and the target chromosomal gene is expressed by transinduction. The invention enables the expression of a chromosomal gene in a cell which is not normally expressed, or not normally expressed to a significant degree. |
