PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To reduce the strength and wt. by mounting solar cells on a plate-like structure so as to be expandable on a support structure at the photovoltaic power generation mode and housed in a housing at a strong wind or when the power generation is impossible. SOLUTION: Solar cells 3 are adhered to the upper surface of a plate-like structure 2 to form a solar cell array 1. A support structure 2 is composed of a frame 4 and support posts 4' so that the support structure 2 is expandable over the frame 4 and foldable thereon for shedding. An anemometer 10 measures the wind velocity to obtain the wind load applied to the array 1 and support substrate 5. When the load is below specified value less than the strengths of the array 1 and support structure 5, a motor 9 is actuated to expand the solar cell array 1 over the frame 4 of the support structure 5 to do the photovoltaic power generation. If the wind load exceeds the specified value, the array 1 is folded and shed on the frame 4. This allows the strength and wt. of the plate-like structure 2 with the solar cells 3 adhered thereto to be reduced, thus reducing the wt. of the entire solar cell array 1. |
