The reservoir has a cylindrical body with a refrigerant inlet in the side wall close to the bottom and an outlet tube in the bottom wall. A concentric cylindrical separator extends from the base to a point above the inlet opening making an annular storage space. The dryer material (4) is packed into the cylinder above the separator. Refrigerant from the condenser (8) enters the reservoir through the inlet tube (33) in the side wall of the cylindrical body (31) and is separated from the outlet tube (34) by a concentric wall (32) which extends above the inlet creating a storage space (35). The water absorbing material is contained above the separator. Dried refrigerant passes to an expansion valve (10) and evaporator (11).
