The valve in which an impulse piston (92) can be brought into position on a main cone (72) to unblock the check valve action such that the opening stroke is determined by the stroke of the impulse piston. The diameter of the main cone seat is approximately equal to the seat side main cone diameter. A connecting bore (108,110) in the impulse piston joins an opening (80) with a tank connection (T) and is controllable during the stroke of the impulse piston.
