The honing machine includes a honing spindle (2) located in a spindle bearing (1), with spindle driven by an electric motor (4) across a belt drive (2). The spindle can also be moved axially to and fro and this stroke drive contains at least one linear motor (10), esp. an electric linear motor. The honing spindle bearing (1) is directly at the movable part (9) of the linear motor. The honing spindle (2) can be connected with the reciprocating stroke drive across a lever.
