Method for operating self-igniting diesel internal combustion engine

The method uses a cylinder-specific fuel injection, a starting amount control which is dependent upon temperature and the speed of the engine, together with an air feed involving torsion formation in the cylinder. On starting in the range below idling speed, with the engine running up from the still state to idling speed, the fuel amount for the actual work stroke directly injected into the cylinder occurs in several successive injection processes which, measured for the degree of the crank angle, are somewhat equal in their angle distance for successive work strokes. The angle distance between successive injection processes of a work stroke increases. The angle distance between successive injection processes remains the same for subsequent, further work strokes. The fuel injection amount is controlled dependent upon the temperature of the combustion chamber surface.
