The colour filters (3,4) are of three primary colours or their complementary colours and are arranged in a matrix on photoreceiver elements (1). The filters (3) of one or two types of the three primary colours, or their complementary colours, are assembled from pigment-based colour filters, while the remaining filters (4) are of paint-based type. Preferably one type of colours based on pigment colour filters comprises a complementary magenta colour. The colour index of a colouring substance used for the magenta colour filters is defined by C.I. pigment RED 177. Typically a colour resist for forming the pigment-based colour filter contains a photosensitive positive resist.
