A cosmetic or medicament product (I) for topical application contains a polymeric quaternary ammonium salt of formula (II). m,n = 4-12; R = 1-7C alkyl; x = 10-300. Also claimed is the use of (II) for combatting skin fungi; prophylaxis of athlete's foot; rinsing or disinfecting wounds; and preserving cosmetics, medicaments or industrial products.
