The device has a housing (2) and two main jaws (6,8) which are controllably movable relative to one another. The jaws are guided by a guide component (12,13) that extends in the displacement direction in a complementarily formed housing recess. They form grip fingers or grip fingers may alternatively be fixed to them. A guide section of at least one of the jaws forms a guide for an engagement section (18,20) of the other jaw.
