The comparison method is used for the peak value representations provided by Western blot or dot blot strips (2). The gradient lines (10) for the peak value lines (8) of each of 2 samples are determined, with the obtained gradient lines for the 2 samples compared. The gradient lines may be determined and compared for a reference sample and a test sample. The gradient lines may be provided as contrast variations using an image processor, using the peak lines obtained by scanning the strips for each of the samples.
