The regulation method has the clutch inserted in a regulation circuit supplied with a required value and a regulation value, with a decision function (S1) verifying provision of a command for activating the clutch and a second decision function (S3) comparing the actual slip with a limit value. When the actual slip is below the limit value a required slip reduction function (S4) is incorporated before returning to the main programme, with direct return to the latter when the actual slip is above the limit value.
