The string-guide profile of the nut can be such that the middle strings are individually offset downwards. It can be inclined at between 25 and 40 degrees in the anticlockwise direction in relation to the bridge when seen looking from the grip board towards the bridge. The grip board can be so shaped that the distance between it and each string is the same as with a conventional stringed instrument. Instrument is of normal shape and layout apart from modified shape of top nut and grip board.
