The module is has foldable or collapsible roof parts and is pre-fitted with rods for opening and closing roof parts. A unit support (25) is provided, which forms at least one wall or the base of the space used for fitting the roof. A hydraulic drive system (16,18) tested as to function and seal is incorporated for the rods, and included control and pressure conduits and electrical connections (19). The unit support is formed as a roof box (25), which is provided with a cover (28). It forms part of the bodywork structure of the vehicle. It can be U-shaped as a rearward frame for the roof, being insertable in the bodywork of the vehicle, the hydraulic drive system being incorporated in it.
