<p>The conveyor (10) comprises strands (12A,12B) which circulate parallel to one another and support the products (P) being graded. As the two strands pass an ejector mechanism one strand (12B) is raised above the level of the other to facilitate ejection. When one of the strands is raised the difference in their levels is equivalent to 0.1-1.0 times and preferably 0.1-0.5 times the distance between the two strands when horizontal. The ejection mechanism comprises an actuator which forces a product in a direction (X-X) lying approximately perpendicular to the line of the two strands when angled. In different versions the ejection can be made by a water or air-jet nozzle, a power cylinder or an electromagnet.</p> |
