<p>Process comprises (a) contacting the mixt. with an adsorbent consisting of a crystalline aluminosilicate contg. a Group IA or IIA metal ion at exchangeable cationic sites, to adsorb seletively p-xylene, and obtain a raffinate comprising the C9 (and other C8) hydrocarbons; and then (b) contacting the adsorbent with a desorbent comprising diethyltoluene to remove p-xyleen as an extract stream. The aluminosilicate is esp. a type X or type Y zeolite.</p> |
