The floor or wall covering uses prefabricated cladding plates. Each cladding plate has a stone panel (1.1-1.5) enclosed by a peripheral frame (2.1-2.5), allowing the cladding panel to be secured to the floor or wall surface in a required position. The cladding plates are secured to a floor or wall surface in a random pattern via adhesive strips on the rear side of the peripheral frame elements. The front surface of each stone panel may be polished, roughened or structured.
