Perforated carbon fibre reinforced plastic sheet esp. for laminar flow aircraft wings

The structural element with defined perforations, pref. for boundary layer suction on an aircraft wing, is made using a prepreg with several superimposed layers (I,II,III) of impregnated carbon fibres. Every n-th yarn in the weft and/or warp direction is a spacer yarn (2) which evaporates at a higher temperature than the curing temperature of the prepreg. The prepreg is shaped and hardened at b. pt. 120 deg C after which it is heated further so that the spacer yarns (2) evaporate completely and leave perforated channels.
