An attachment for an automatic sewing machine, or the like, consisting of equipment that positions and clamps a piece of cloth or the like on a base fabric using a jig-guide (13) (17) that moves automatically after a first seam has been sewn along a peripheral edge of the cloth. The jig-guide is coupled with another device to facilitate the loading and positioning of the pieces of cloth. Loading is carried out using a sliding plane (31) which is provided with precise reference points only and does not include any mechanism that might hinder the insertion of the cloth. The sliding plane (31) moves on a fixed bed (32). The edges of the sliding plane are bent downwards over the edges of the fixed bed and the sliding plane (31) slides on the fixed bed (32) in response to the movements of a piston (42) or the like.
