PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To clean clogging-up of refuse on a sea water filter without staining hands by arranging a drain chamber positioned on an inlet side of a filter net and a cock for discharging refuse in the drain chamber, in the sea water filter provided in a cooling pipe in which sea water is utilized as cooling water, and provided with the filter net. SOLUTION: During operation of an internal combustion engine 1 for a marine vessel, a Kingston cock 3 arranged on a sea water suction port of a sea water cooling pipe 20 makes in an opening condition. In a sea water filter 4 mounted on a sea water cooling pipe 20 arranged between the Kingston cock 3 and a sea water pump 7, a drain chamber 5 is installed on a lower side of a main body case of an inlet side from a filter net, and is connected to a switching cock 8 arranged upstream from an electrically driven hinge pump 7 through a cock 6. When clogging-up of refuse on the filter 4 is confirmed, the Kingston cock 3 is closed, the cock 6 is opened, and the switching cock 8 is turned to a filter 4 side. After that, the hinge pump 7 is operated, and refuse in the drain chamber 5 is discharged outside a hull automatically. |
