PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a cleaning method of a thermal head which makes it possible to remove a deposit as occasion demands, when it is formed, without impairing the thermal head and, particularly, the cleaning method of the thermal head for plate-making of a base paper for stencil printing. SOLUTION: A cleaning method of a thermal head 31 having a plurality of heating elements 31a which are arranged along a direction intersecting the direction of carriage of a recording material. A deposit formed in the vicinity of the heating elements 31a is softened by heating, while a sheet-like material S is carried in the direction of carriage, being brought into contact with the heating elements 31a, and thereby the deposit is transferred onto the downstream side in the direction of carriage. The deposit may be heated also by energizing the heating elements 31a. The sheet-like material may also be paper or stencil paper. |
