PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To impart a permanent wettability to the appliance and to improve its safety by coating the appliance with a copolymer consisting of the repeating units contg. >=1 kinds of compds. respectively expressed by the prescribed formulas at specific weight ratios and having a specific number average mol.wt. in terms of polystyrene. SOLUTION: This appliance is coated with the copolymer consisting of the repeating units contg. at least >=1 kinds of the compds. (hereafter expressed by the formula I, etc.) expressed by the formula I to IV at the weight ratio of 70:30 to 95:5 of the formula I: the formula II or III and the weight ratio of 99:1 to 60:40 of the formula I+II or III: the formula IV+V: the formula IV. Further, the number average mol.wt. in terms of polystyrene by GPC measurement using tetrahydrofuran as a solvent is specified to 2,000 to 100,000. In the formula, (n) is defined as an integer from 1 to 20; (m) an integer from 5 to 80; Xa denotes an atom which is univalent cation species, etc.; Xb denotes a hydroxyl group, amino group, etc.; Xc denoted 4 to 30C alkyl group; Xd denotes 4 to 20C perfluoroalkyl group-contg. group.
