MINERAL COMPOSITION AND ITS PRODUCTION

PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To prepare a mineral composition, good in mineral balance between magnesium and calcium and derived from a natural product with a high calcium content. SOLUTION: This mineral composition is derived from a sea urchin shell and has (1:2) to (4:1) weight ratio of magnesium to calcium and further >=5wt.% magnesium content based on the solid matter. The method for producing the mineral composition comprises pulverizing the sea urchin shell, carrying out an extraction treatment thereof under alkaline conditions, neutralizing the resultant extract solution and then concentrating and/or drying the neutralized extract solution.
