PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To denitrate and purify an exhaust gas containing NOx and a minute amount of lower hydrocarbons by utilizing the denitration effect of a minute amount of lower hydrocarbons when a specified catalyst is used. SOLUTION: In a method in which an exhaust gas containing NOx and a minute amount of lower hydrocarbons is passed through a catalyst of mordenite containing rhodium, ethane, ethylene, propane, propylene, and/or butane can be used as the lower hydrocarbons. The method is particularly effective for combustion exhaust gas containing NOx which is generated by combustion of a lean gas combustion system in which city gas is used as fuel. |
