<p>PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a new animal which lacks the function of phospholipase A2 receptor genes, is useful for elucidation of the physiological role of the phospholipase A2 receptor, elucidation of the disease participated by this enzyme and study of its treatment method and is useful as an animal model having the distinct genetic background. SOLUTION: This mouse lacks the function of the phospholipase A2 receptor (PLA2 R) genes. This mouse is obtd. by cloning the PLA2 R genes derived from a mouse, then inserting a selection marker gene, such as neomycin resistance gene and diphtherotoxin A fragment gene, into the PLA2 R genes to obtain the DNA for homologous recombination. This DNA is then introduced into the mouse embryonic trunk cells, then the homologous recombination is executed, thereby obtaining the embryonic truck cells lacking the PLA2 R genes and, thereafter, a chimera mouse is obtd. from these cells. Finally, this chimera mouse is mated with the mouse of the desired system, by which the product kids are obtd.</p> |
