PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a direct electrostatic printer which can minimize a slippage from the original printing position and can print an image of high quality. SOLUTION: A direct method electrostatic printer is equipped with a back electrode 1 connected to a back voltage source VBE, a toner transfer unit 2, a print head structural body 3 disposed between back electrode 1 and the toner transfer unit 2 and an image receiving base 4 interposed between the print head structural body 3 and the back electrode 1. The toner transfer unit 2 is enclosed with a container 20 having a front wall, a back wall, a pair of side walls and a base wall which has a thin opening 21 extending in a printing area from the front wall to the back wall. The container 20 has a fitting surface for the print head structural body 3 covering the opening 21. The toner transfer unit 2 is equipped with a toner carrier 25 carrying toner particles to a printing position of the opening 21. The toner particles carried to the printing position is affected by an electric field pattern generated on the print head structural body 3. |
